Full Brand Identity Website Print Strategy
The Challenge
Building a brand from zero is the purest test of a design studio, because there’s nothing to hide behind - no legacy equity, no existing customer associations, no “keep the old logo but freshen it.” Circa came to DP1 at exactly that point: a business with a clear offering and a great name, and nothing else. No mark, no palette, no voice, no website, no stationery.
The risk at this stage isn’t bad design - it’s incoherent design. New businesses typically assemble their identity piecemeal: a logo from one freelancer, a website from another, business cards from an online template. The result reads as improvised, because it is. Customers can’t articulate why they don’t quite trust it, but they don’t.
Circa’s brief was the opposite: build everything, in order, as one system - strategy first, identity second, website and print in parallel - so that on launch day the company would look like it had been run well for a decade.
Our Approach
Strategy before style. The first deliverable had no visuals at all: positioning, audience definition, and a message hierarchy - what Circa promises, to whom, in what voice. Every design decision afterward had something to be right or wrong against, which is the difference between design and decoration.
An identity system, not a logo file. The Circa mark anchors a full system: primary and secondary marks, a disciplined palette, a typographic hierarchy, and usage standards that keep the brand coherent whether it appears on a website header, an invoice, or a vehicle door. We stress-tested the mark at every size from favicon to signage before finalizing.
Website and print, born together. Because one team built both, the website and print suite share DNA rather than resemblance - same grid logic, same typographic voice, same photographic direction. The WordPress site launched fast, schema-ready, and SEO-structured from day one; the print suite (cards, letterhead, folders, collateral) came off press matched to the screen. Launch day looked like year ten.
