Electronics Branding & 50,000-Product E-Commerce: Key Electronics

Selling electronic components online is a search and taxonomy problem long before it is a design problem. This is how a futuristic brand identity and a large-scale e-commerce build let Key Electronics carry tens of thousands of products without collapsing under its own catalog.

The Challenge

Key Electronics supplies components across more than 100 manufacturers and a catalog approaching 50,000 products. At that scale, a customer who cannot find a specific part in seconds is simply gone.

The brand also needed to signal technical sophistication, the client wanted a genuinely modern, near-space-age feel, without the visual language fighting the utilitarian job the site had to do.

Our Approach

Galactic identity, invisible interface. We built a forward-looking visual system positioning the company as advanced engineering rather than parts distribution, then kept that system entirely out of the way of the catalog.

Architecture around real search behaviour. Component buyers search by part number, manufacturer and specification. The taxonomy was built to stay navigable at 50,000 SKUs, with a checkout designed for technical purchasing rather than consumer browsing.

What We Delivered

  • Brand identity and logo design with a modern, space-age visual system.
  • Printed brochure.
  • Full e-commerce website carrying roughly 50,000 products across 100+ manufacturers, with complete checkout.

The Results

An electronics supplier with a brand that signals engineering capability and a storefront that stays genuinely usable at a scale where most catalogs become unusable.

Key Electronics project, frequently asked questions

What makes large-catalog e-commerce difficult?

Findability. At tens of thousands of SKUs the constraint stops being design and becomes taxonomy, search and filtering. A beautiful store nobody can navigate converts worse than a plain one that works.

How do electronic component buyers search?

By part number, manufacturer and specification, not by browsing categories. The architecture has to serve that behaviour directly or the catalog is effectively invisible.
