Custom Tailoring Brand Identity & E-Commerce: Bonnes Choses

Selling a bespoke suit online means solving a contradiction, the entire promise of custom tailoring is that it cannot be bought off a shelf. This is how French-inspired brand identity and e-commerce development let Bonnes Choses sell made-to-measure across two of the most competitive menswear markets in the country.

The Challenge

Bonnes Choses operates in San Francisco and New Orleans, both saturated with established menswear, both full of customers who already have a tailor. The identity had to feel genuinely European rather than costume-French.

And the storefront had to hold the entire configuration space of custom tailoring: measurements, fabric, weight, colour, lining, buttons, lapel, vent, monogramming. Every question a tailor asks in a fitting room had to work in a browser without overwhelming the buyer.

Our Approach

Heritage without pastiche. The identity draws on classic French luxury conventions, restrained palette, elegant serif letterforms, generous whitespace, carrying provenance without tipping into costume.

Configuration sequenced like a fitting. We built a product architecture where one garment expands into thousands of valid configurations, and ordered the selections the way a tailor actually asks them, so the process feels like being measured rather than filling in a form.

What We Delivered

  • Brand identity and logo design, French-inspired, built for luxury menswear.
  • Full e-commerce development, multi-variant configuration across sizing, fabric, colour and finish.
  • Checkout engineered for custom orders, carrying a complete garment specification intact from selection through payment.

The Results

A made-to-measure brand competing in two major metros, with an online store that sells a fitting-room product without a fitting room.

Bonnes Choses project, frequently asked questions

Can custom clothing really be sold online?

Yes, when the configuration flow mirrors how a tailor actually works. The failure mode is presenting every option at once instead of sequencing them the way a fitting does.

What makes multi-variant e-commerce complex?

A single suit can generate thousands of valid combinations. The build has to validate which combinations are actually possible, price them correctly, and carry the full specification through checkout without losing anything.
